"We better finish above cornhill, they-re shit" was the remark made to Lee Heath by one of his SLH colleagues before their game against The Sports Shop a couple of weeks back. Oh well boys, better luck next year!

And so to last night for the final game of our 1st season in Div one against The Sports Shop who were promoted with us last season. It was a game where both teams turned up with the bare 6 and for us, no keeper and far too many defenders. Zak took the keepers gloves and after the warmup, it was clear that if we were to win we were gonna have to stop them shooting!

The game started cagily with us desperate to correct the mistakes we made against Sopheon and keep some organisation. Any gaps that were to be found were in the sports shop defence and we took a 2-0 lead before some slack defending let them in to pull one back. By half time it was 3-1 and we were confident that we could go on and win confortably.

A change of keeper at HT saw me swap with Zak and as the half went on it was clear that The Sports shop were losing their discipline and we found ourselves with plenty of space to add a further 4 goals. 4 could have been more if it hadn-t been for the sports shop keeper who seemed to be getting any part of his body in the way to keep the score down. Sports Shop got one back when a clearance from Steve S, who was now in goal, rebounded off the advancing striker and into the goal despite Steve-s ambitious claims of handball.

So 7-2 the final score and for us the end of a successful season that could see us finish 4th. Thanks to the Sports Shop for an enjoyable game.
