Another tight game with the Sports Shop and I think it-s the first time we have tasted defeat. We put in a pretty good performance and it was tough going for everyone as both teams had the bare six players. That was disappoining for us as in the morning we had 9 and then in the last few hours we lost 3 players. At least it probably helped the fitness of our outfield players and we were the stronger team at the end but couldn-t create any clear chances.

We started off pretty well but as we pushed on to we gave Sports Shop the opportunity to hit us on the break and they were soon 2-0 ahead. Matt got us back into the game with a trademark mazy run and finish. We couldn-t get the equaliser and some confusion in defence led to Sports Shop adding to their lead before half time.

We dominated the second half, Sports Shop had a few opportunities on the break but they didn-t overly test my minimal keeping skills apart from one finger tip save. We got back into the match with a great left knee strike from Zak after Steve B had flicked on Matt-s cross. But despite being camped out in the Sports Shop half we couldn-t get the all important equaliser. We had a few near misses but couldn-t carve out the clear cut opportunities required.

Overall we played pretty well but struggle when teams sit back against us as we tend to be better when we attack with pace. We don-t seem to have the ability to break down teams who retreat and let us have the ball. We also need a back up keeper for when Dave isn-t available.
