Pretty tight affair this one...I think both teams were a touch rusty after the mini break of, no doubt, endless fags and booze, and stuff, and things, so fitness and touch were a bit AWOL. In saying that there was some good stuff played by both sides, us ending up winning 3-1 which was about right I-d say, maybe a two goal cushion flattered a bit. No keeper for us due to Jimbo-s involvement in a 10 pound budget film currently being made by one of our good friends (watch out for the DVD free on Kellogs Cornflake packets soon), so my good self, gaffer porridge was between the sticks, which meant a slightly arse about face team. Anywho....good win to start, let-s see if we can continue Thursday against Sopheon and not throw away the league 4 games in like we did in the Winter by going on a 3 game losing streak after a good start.
Cheers for the game Hampton, no doubt you-ll do pretty well this season.

A fairly tight first half, with some decent play from both sides. Unfortunately we were unable to make the most of our chances, and while we were a bit lucky that some of their finishes hit a largely hapless out of position McConnell in goal, the pressure eventually told, and Rogues went into half time 1-0 up thanks to a well taken goal.
The second half was much better for us in terms of territory, but we were largely unable to get shots away due to some good defending by Rogues. The pressure that we were able to put on led to a corner, from which a ball was played behind Dave McConnell, but he caught it sweet on the volley and it flew in off the far post, a great goal and seemingly the only way we were going to score on the night.
At 1-1 as the game became stretched with both teams searching for a winner, Rogues went and got two in quick succession, their third coming almost immediately after the restart.
All in all a good performance by the Lions, and some promise for the season with a lot of decent build up play, if we can keep it as tight as we did for the majority of this game we should have no problems finishing better off in the league than we did last season. Cheers to Rogues for a good match.
