Match Reports
Hmm. One week we have an army of thousands and the next, we struggle to field a full team. The excuses were many and plentiful and we had to start with a bare 5 until the Lanky Streak could fight his way through traffic.

That being said, the 5 did okay, even taking the lead through Gillies. Shortly after we were up to 6, we let Ando in to score. Ando of all people. They only went and got another just before the break as well.

Second half and we swap out Jinxy for Steers in goal. This awesome managerial decision resulted in the Hobbit only going up and spanking one into the top corner.

He even almost managed to prevent their 3rd but his tracking back and challenge merely deflected the ball into the path of their forward who slotted home. This was the signal for Steers to go on one of his trademarked lumbering runs. An exchange with Galvin, a back heel or two and the Gillies was able to calmly slot it home. Move of the match.

Sadly we let Ando in again from a corner. It was poor form that allowed him time and space in the area to control, turn and shoot. Pressing for the equaliser again, we were caught out once more as Trowers was caught in possession and, with Steers off on an adventure, the ball rolled into an empty net.

Altogether a frustrating game - not due to the oppo but due to our own inability to rock up with enough players. Well done the Rovers and we wish you well for the season.

Jinxy - a good stint as goalsweeper, an even better one outfield. Almost gave away a 20 yard own goal and we still feel uneasy when he shoots.

Nader - a chronic lack of confidence belied a largely solid performance as last man.

Trowers - ran everywhere but touch and composure was sadly absent.

Akaboo - good touches, marshaled the troops well and nearly impossible to dispossess. Some superb flicks for people (mostly Galvin) to forage off. Gets the star only because Galv had it last week and I bet I never hear the end of that.

Gillies - a real livewire again. A couple of very well taken goals and more energy than that rabbit thing (no, the other one) in the battery ads. Will doubtless give me grief for a mere -9- rating.

Lanky Streak - he-s tall, isn-t he?
